Central Florida has SO many gorgeous locations for your proposal or engagement session, but with all of the options - it can be a bit overwhelming! I will help you narrow down the top spots to the ideal one for you two based on what you are looking for. Bonus - lots of tips included for the best time of year/day/season to plan a shoot for these locations!
1365 Alabama Dr, Winter Park, FL 32789
This spot is stunning, especially at sunrise & sunset - the way the light shines through the trees gives total fairytale vibes!
Plan a shoot here during the non-humid months of the year! Ideal time is Oct-March at golden hour OR sunrise for privacy!
Try for a weekday because the weekends are so crowded!
Pros:
Fairytale vibes
Great for sunrise & golden hour - thanks to the glowing Spanish moss!
On the water and woodsy - so you can have both vibes!
Docks that give a pretty water view
Cute bridge
But....with so many fun pros does come some pretty significant cons unfortunately!
Cons:
SO busy - especially during nice weather - this is the go-to spot for many photographers and unless you come at a weird time - it will be BUSY
There is almost always a couple events going on - family picnics - elopements (where they reserve the large pillar structure) The proposal I shot in these photos happened on a day where there were two OTHER proposals happening at the same time!
It is also a popular fishing spot for some - so the docks are hard to use on occasion
If the sun is not peeking through the trees it is definitely a darker location - still pretty but not the same magical glow
Alright next up!
100 Rosearden Dr, Orlando, FL 32803
What's with Florida and azaleas am I right?? But for real - this is actually my FAVORITE photoshoot location and where Nick & I had our engagement photos taken! You'll learn why - but one of my main priorities for clients (and us) was to have a private, calm photoshoot - which is this spot! Let's hit ya with the pros!
Plan a shoot here during the non-humid months of the year Oct-March (because the bugs come OUT!)
Morning is not a good time here, the sun hasn't made it into the lower part of the park
3-5pm is a perfect time!
Weekday or weekend - either works - not a crowded park!
Pros:
Total Florida tropical vibes - if you're going tropical this is your spot
SO CHILL & PRIVATE (not a big photoshoot spot - not sure why lol but I have yet to see another photographer there while I'm shooting)
There are three gorgeous bridges (one white, two wooden)
The sun peeking through here is also gorgeous
Some fun curvy trees here as well
I included some of our own (not posted yet!) engagement photos at the bottom for funzies hehe
And, like I said this is my favorite spot...so I don't have too many cons to share, but I'll list a few below!
Cons:
It is in a little more run-down area of Orlando - edging closer to downtown, so I probably wouldn't explore this park after dark - not that it's THAT sus, but it's not in a bougie neighborhood like Kraft Azalea!
It gets a little shaded in the greenery areas, and can be dimmer lighting if it's not sunny outside
Lastly, but certainly not least...
Lake Eola Park
512 E Washington St, Orlando, FL 32801
No azaleas this time! This park is in the heart of downtown orlando, complete with a beautiful lake, cityscape, and even swans! Read on for the pros & cons!
Plan a shoot here during anytime of the year - the breeze off the lake is helpful in the summer months!
Try to aim for a weekday afternoon if possible - the weekends get very busy!
Pros:
Gives you the city view with a taste of nature - best of both!
Lots of bird wildlife - super easy to get some in the background of your photos!
There is a nice dock
Lots of shade on the path!
Next up are the cons - which I'm sure you can guess some since the park is in the heart of downtown LOL!
Cons:
During almost the whole year (minus cold days in January - like the proposal shown above), this place is poppin' with people on their lunch breaks during the week & tourists on the weekends!
Stay away from a Sunday late morning/early afternoon shoot because there is a farmer's market every week that draws in quite a crowd!
There is also a concert venue, so it's good to check in advance if there are events scheduled
Overall though, you can tuck away into some spots for privacy - just know there will be many passersby!
All in all, there are many gorgeous spots in Orlando, Winter Park, Winter Garden, Celebration, etc to have photoshoots, these are just a few! I hope you found this info helpful for the planning of your engagement shoot!
